Base Building Rules

We don’t like restricting creativity when it comes to building, but resources aren’t infinite, and everyone deserves a fair chance to enjoy the game. To keep things balanced, we have a few building rules in place.

1. Building on Rivers & in Bays

Building near rivers and bays can be a great experience, offering scenic views and a sense of community. While we’re not a roleplay server, we respect the effort players put into making these areas visually appealing.

  • Do not block rivers or bays with impassable structures.
  • Avoid creating eyesores that negatively impact other players’ experiences.
  • If your build is deemed disruptive, you may receive a warning, and adjustments may be made to fit this rule.

2. Large Builds Near Monuments & Points of Interest (POIs)

Certain bases can cause significant client-side lag, which varies depending on each player’s computer. However, to ensure a smooth experience for everyone:

  • Avoid building massive bases near monuments or POIs.
  • Large builds in high-traffic areas may be removed or adjusted if they cause excessive lag.
  • If you want to build a huge base, do it in a less active area to avoid disrupting gameplay.

2.1 Bases That Cause Severe Server FPS Drops

Our server is optimized to handle most builds, but in rare cases, certain automations or complex structures can impact server FPS. If a base is proven to be causing severe performance issues, we will remove or modify it as needed.

3. No TC Griefing or Reserving Large Areas

At the start of a wipe, some players spam Tool Cupboards (TCs) to claim large portions of land. While some players genuinely intend to build there, excessive land reservations can be disruptive and will be removed if reported.

  • If other players complain they can’t build due to your TCs, they may be removed.
  • If you’re not actively using the land and it’s blocking others, admins will clear the area.

4. Base Defenses

You are allowed to defend your base with traps and turrets as long as they do not affect players who are simply passing by. Since this is a PvE server, there should be no instance where a player is killed when they are doing nothing wrong. If a player enters your base, lands in your compound, or enters a building you own, your turrets and traps may kill them freely.

5. Structure Limits & Lag

Please avoid placing excessive lag-causing structures (like windmills, SAM sites, turrets, and large electrical setups) in a single area.

No more than 4 windmills should be placed within close proximity (same compound or render distance).

Avoid clustering SAM sites or other high-impact items in a way that causes performance issues.

Building multiple connected or adjacent bases to bypass these limits is not allowed.

We understand that nearby bases may belong to different players, so this rule is enforced case-by-case, focusing on intent and performance impact of the Griefer Grave server. Admins may ask for adjustments if a base is causing server lag, and reserve the right to modify bases that are disrupting gameplay.

We also get that not everyone is playing on high end PCs. What might run fine for one player could cause major FPS drops or stuttering for someone else. Please keep that in mind when building, so the game stays smooth and fun for everyone.

By following these guidelines, we can ensure that everyone has an enjoyable and fair experience.
